From Blazer grads to Blazer teachers, we are thankful to have our hometown educators like Mrs. Dawn Riggs! Dawn is a proud 1991 graduate of Valley View High School. She contributed to the school newspaper, showcased her writing talents in various Valley View publications, and earned the title of Miss Valley View her junior year. She is currently a paraprofessional at VVIS! Her favorite part of the school day is morning carline duty, where she delights in greeting the children with a smile and a compliment — the perfect way to start each day!   Among her fondest memories at Valley View are the teachers who believed in her, the clubs she was involved in, and the honor of representing Valley View at a luncheon with Miss America! #TeamBlazer #Blazergrads

This is an automated message from Valley View Public Schools. Valley View School District seeks to always be transparent and communicate important information as clearly and accurately as possible. On Wednesday, 9/18, numerous rumors were circulating amongst students and parents. District officials investigated each report shared and none were found credible as all reports received were found to be stemming from the threat to a neighboring school on Tuesday, 9/17 and other threats to districts in the state and region. In order to communicate and update in response to the circulating concerns, a message was sent out at 12:53pm on 9/18 indicating that there was no credible threat known to district officials or local authorities. Following this message being sent out, at approximately 1:20pm, a brave student reported to administration information about a threat that was made on Tuesday afternoon (9/17). Within five minutes of the report being made, the student who made the threat had been identified and was being questioned by administration and school resource officers (SROs). The SROs communicated with the JPD Criminal Investigation Division (CID), who took over the investigation. A message was sent out at 4:38pm on 9/18 providing updated information on the identified threat and investigation along with the fact that no remaining active threat existed to any VV campus. At 6:43pm on 9/18, the district was informed through the JPD social media post that following the CID investigation the student was arrested at 6:30pm. Our district is committed to ensuring that the safety of students and staff is our top priority. We investigate every report made. If you or your child see or hear anything of concern, please report it to the principal of your child’s building. Quick communication allows us to work with the appropriate authorities and respond promptly to any potential issues, as shown through the prompt response when the afternoon report was received yesterday. Additionally, we encourage you to speak with your children about the seriousness and consequences of making threats, even in jest. Threats of any kind, whether credible or not, can cause significant disruption and fear within our school and community. It’s important that our students understand the seriousness of these actions. Please make sure that you are signed up to receive all forms of communication: text, email, and app notifications. Due to word count restrictions, push messages aren't always readable.

With strong winds and heavy rain possible tomorrow morning, only one drop-off in front of the intermediate school may be used. To ensure safety for all students and staff, the second car line will only be used when the weather is clear. Please plan accordingly to avoid any delays on rainy days throughout the year.
