Mrs. Sandlin & Mrs. Leible’s math classes teamed up this week to put their rate skills to the test! Students explored real-world rates, and it looks like a few might have a future with the Valley View Jr. High basketball and track teams 😉 Even Principal Davis dusted off his basketball shoes and joined the fun! Afterward, students practiced converting unit rates per second, writing ordered pairs, and graphing their data. Who says math can’t be a blast? 💙💛

🦃✨ Our students are putting their math skills to the test by planning a Thanksgiving dinner! They’re using ratios, unit rates, and proportional reasoning to budget ingredients, scale recipes, and make sure there’s enough food for everyone. Real-world math in action—and it’s deliciously fun! 🥧📊

We’re so proud of our VV students who represented our school at the “Handshake Competition” at ASU this week! 💙💛 Carter Steel, Ava Imboden, Emma Thompson, and Nora Best took on real-world challenges that tested their communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills — and they crushed it! 🙌 A huge shoutout to Nora Best for earning 2nd place with an incredible 149/150 score! 🌟👏

Students are diving into history through novels in Mrs. Watkins reading class! 📚 ✨ In small group literature circles, students are exploring different historical fiction stories — discussing characters, key events, and themes to bring each time period to life. 💙 #BlazerPride🔥

🥞🔬 Science is better with pancakes!

Mrs. Thompson’s 5th grade science class wrapped up their unit on matter with a hands-on (and delicious!) experiment. Students explored properties of matter, types of mixtures, physical and chemical changes, and states of matter — all while making pancakes! 💙💛

What better way to celebrate learning about Lyric Poetry than with a little friendly competition? 🎤✨ Our 6th graders had an absolute blast playing “Finish the Lyrics” in Mrs. Stuart’s and Mrs. Tomlinson’s language classrooms — and even Principal Davis joined the fun! 🎶👏 There were big laughs, surprise stars, and some serious musical talent on display! 🌟🎵💙

🎃 Halloween is this Friday! 🎃 Students may wear costumes tomorrow for $1! 🦇 Costume reminders: Costumes must be school appropriate. Inflatables, props, accessories, masks, or weapons are not allowed. Hats, hoods, and gloves may be worn, but may be required to be removed during class and while in the building. All costume preparations must be completed at home (No dressing, applying makeup, or colored hairspray, at school.) We can't wait to see all the Halloween spirit! 👻
