💙💛#BlazerLoveStories💛💙 Doyle “Pete” & Anita Griffin Yarbrough’s #BlazerLoveStory began in 1945 when they were just 7th graders—growing up on family farms in the Valley View community 🌾. From chopping cotton alongside classmates to building a lifetime of memories, their #BlazerLoveStory is still going strong today! ❤️ In 1950, they graduated from Valley View High School, where Anita was Vice President of her class and played basketball 🏀, while Pete left school at noon to work on the farm 🚜. In 1953, they tied the knot 💍, but shortly after, Pete was called to serve in the Army 🇺🇸 for two years. Their love for Valley View and their Blazer pride 💙💛 has carried on through generations! Their children, Ken Yarbrough (Class of 76) and Susie Yarbrough Parish (Class of 82), have passed down the tradition to their own children: 👶 Grandchildren: ✨ Kendall Yarbrough Gartman (Class of ‘01) ✨ Jay Yarbrough (Class of ’02) ✨ Cody Parish (Class of ’09) ✨ Cady Parish (Class of ’16) And now, the next generation is keeping the legacy alive! 💫 👶 Great-Grandchildren: ✨ Allison Shelby (Class of ’24) ✨ Hayden Gartman (Class of ’25) ✨ Drew Gartman (Class of ’25) ✨ Plus, Quinn, Kye, Major, Nora, Mia, Lane, & Stetson—future Blazer graduates!🎓💙 Four generations (and counting!) of #BlazerPride and a #BlazerLoveStory 💛💙

🚨After driving roads throughout the district at different times today, multiple roads remain snow/ice covered. Due to the timing of inclement weather forecasted tomorrow afternoon, Valley View Public Schools will dismiss two (2) hours early on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 with bus and car rider dismissal beginning at 1:00pm. All afterschool and evening activities, including the Excel afterschool program, are cancelled for Tuesday. It is our desire to provide this information on the district's planned early dismissal now so that our Valley View families can coordinate pickup and afterschool care accordingly. Thank you for your understanding as we seek to prioritize the safety of all our students, staff and Blazer families.

💙💛#BlazerLoveStories💛💙 It all started with a basketball game and a pizza date. 🏀🍕 In 1977, Pam was a 9th grader, and Jerry Don was in 10th grade when he took her to Pizza Inn after the girls’ district tournament game at Grubbs. She doesn’t remember who won that night—but she’ll never forget that it was the beginning of their #BlazerLoveStory. ❤️ From high school sweethearts to 43 years of marriage, Pam and Jerry Don have built a lifetime of love, laughter, and Blazer pride. 💙💛 Jerry Don graduated in 1979, Pam in 1980, and they married in 1981. Their Blazer legacy continued with their sons, Jarrett (’05) and Jace (’10). Some love stories start with a fairytale—this one started with basketball, pizza, and Valley View! 💛🏀 #BlazerPride 🔥

Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held tomorrow, Thursday, February 13, 2025, from 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM and 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM, with a scheduled dinner break for teachers from 5:00 PM to 5:30 PM. Parents of PreK-2nd grade students will meet with their child’s teacher at a scheduled time, while parents of 3rd-12th grade students will attend drop-in conferences in the cafeteria of each building. Additionally, school will be closed tomorrow, Thursday, February 13 and Friday, February 14 for teacher in-service, as well as on Monday, February 17, in observance of Presidents’ Day. School will resume on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. If you are unable to attend parent/teacher conferences, grades may be accessed through Home Access Center (HAC) starting Thursday, February 13 at noon. Once in HAC, click on the grades icon and choose the IPR tab to view grades. If you have any questions about conferences or accessing HAC, please contact your building office.
