Knowing that there would be several visitors in the Jonesboro area this past weekend and in anticipation of the solar eclipse yesterday, our Valley View Interact students wanted to help our visitors have a good first impression of our town. We joined with the Jonesboro Rotary Club to help clean up at the corner of Woodsprings Road and Alexander Drive. Great job, Blazers!

The Valley View School District has continued to monitor the latest local event plans, district staffing data, and updates from local and state officials regarding the Total Solar Eclipse that will occur in our area on April 8, 2024. Based on our review of all current data, Valley View School District campuses will be closed for in-person instruction on Monday, April 8. This date will be an Alternate Methods of Instruction (AMI) day to ensure the safety of all students and staff with the projected impacts on traffic before and during dismissal time and due to the impact closures of other facilities have had on district staff available to report to work. Next week each student will be provided ISO-certified glasses to bring home to experience the eclipse off campus. Instructional activities and resources will be posted on our district website to supplement other eclipse activities Blazer families may have planned for this date. The district appreciates your understanding of this decision as area plans have continued to evolve in preparation for the event.
