In compliance with ACT 173 of 2017 and policy 4.59, “The District allows private school and home school students who parents, legal guardians, or other responsible adult with whom the student resides are residents of the District to attend academic courses offered in grades 7-12.”
“The District may reject a private school or home school student’s request for attendance if the District’s acceptance would: require the addition of staff or classrooms, exceed the capacity of a program, class, grade level, or school building, cause the district to provide educational services the District does not currently provide, or cause the district to be out of compliance with applicable laws and regulations regarding desegregation.”
Attention Parents or Guardians:
If the student you are registering for homeschool services has been identified with an educational disability and receives special education supports or services, please reach out to the Valley View School District Special Education Office at (870) 932-3737 ext. 8 to discuss the Valley View School District obligations under Private School Proportionate Share.
If you notice your student progressing slowly with academic content or you are concerned that they may be a child with a disability, please contact Valley View School District for further assistance. The Individuals With Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) was enacted to ensure that all children with disabilities will have access to a free and appropriate public education.
Thanks,
Carol Brown
Special Education Director
